Yet again we see the Easter holidays have arrived with the sun shine in tow. We had this weather a few years back when the sun was blazing and the heat was wonderful, we all thought Summer had arrived at Spring time, but we were wrong then. We ended up having one of the worst, most miserable wet Summers not seen for a while. Yet amazingly Cumbria still managed to raise a hose pip ban through it all.
Will we be wrong again? The beauty of the Lake District is the fact that no matter the weather there is always a view to take your breath away. However, when the sun decides to make an appearance we are blessed with some of the best views in the world. The Lake District holds many a hidden treasures and the best way to discover them is to get out there and see them.
Having the sun blazing down on us providing us with much required heat makes the thought of jumping on a plane in search of hotter climates a distant memory. If we already have the heat we desire and sun beating down then all there is to do is to put on our walking boots and discover the gems of our own home land.
The natural beauty that surrounds us, the wildlife that we never knew existed. The look on child's face that normally resides in a built up urban town or city, when they see a fox close up for the first time or a deer. This magical moment makes you long for rural activity. There are many forms of breaks available in the Lake District, from the luxury of hotels to more homely self catering to really going it rough and camping to meeting camping half way. The choice is really yours either way you get to enjoy the countryside with the hustle and bustle of everyday living.
Good for the soul and sentiment, to be able to stand on top of a hill and see nothing but green fields and forests, with lakes and streams.
It truly makes you grateful to be alive. It has been known for some city goers to reach the peak of Helvellyn and perform a similar display to that of the film Titanic, they spread out there arms and take a deep breath and shout out "I'm the king of the world", whatever you choose to do when you reach the peak of just one of our glorious mountains be sure it's a memorable moment. A moment that you will never forget.
